Integration of African Children in Ireland will be hosting an “A Taste of Africa – with Music, Singing, Food and Fashion Show”.

“Adamstown Lucan Africa Day Festival”

Date & Time: 22nd May 2022, 12.00 noon – 5.00 pm

Venue: Adamstown Youth and Community Centre, Station Road, Lucan

Adamstown Summer Camp will be hosting an “Adamstown Lucan Africa Day Festival” on 22nd May 2022.

This is a Family event. Activities will include a football tournament and family fun day. All are welcome.

The schedule of events includes:

Football Tournament in honour of the late Patrick Akpoveta, founder of Adamstown United FC.

2.00 pm – 5.00 pm

Activities to include:

  • African food section with cooked foods from different African countries
  • Best dressed African outfit competition
  • African Games
  • African Arts and Crafts display
  • African hair braiding
  • African head gear/turban making
  • African musical and dance performances

  • Stalls for African Communities in Ireland

“Young People of African Descent Understanding the career path in the DFA (online)”

An Online event targeting young people of African descent on how to develop a career in the Department of Foreign Affairs. We will partner with our youth group, the Adamstown summer camp who will connect the staff from the DFA to give the talks.

“Africa Day Taste and See – Open to DSW Tusla Fostering and PPFS Team”

Date & Time: 25th May 2022, 1.00 pm – 2.00 pm

Venue: Chamber House, Tallaght

Africa Day Taste and See event for the DSW Tusla Fostering and PPFS Team will be taking place in Chamber House on 25th May from 1-2pm for staff to try African delicacies and view traditional African costumes.  This is a staff only event.

“Language Explorers family workshop celebrating Africa Day!”

Date & Time: 26th May 2022, 3.30 pm – 4.30 pm

Venue: Music Room 1, Rua Red South Dublin Arts Centre, Tallaght, Dublin 24

Join Justine Nantale, Irish Ugandan artist, singer and educator in this family event for children 6-12 years old. Expect music, games and fun celebrating the wonderful and rich African Heritage!

“South Dublin Africa Day”

Date & Time: 28th May 2022, 12.00 pm – 3.00 pm

Venue: Palmerstown Community and Youth Centre, Palmerstown, Dublin 20

An event called South Dublin Africa Day will showcase the significant impact of African and African descendants around South Dublin and the contribution they have made in their communities to celebrate “Africa Day 2022.

To project a positive perspective. The event will feature the following activities:

  1. An exhibition of “Our “Ad Center Experiences” and the “Changing Faces of African Women in Ireland” A photographic series that represents the fragile renewal of the work of Afro in Diaspora Center.
  2. A display of cultural dance to showcase the vibrant colourfulness of the culture through dancing.

3.An exhibition of the colourful fabric with a fashion parade.

  1. A showcase and display some of African heritage collections,
  2. Promote African History Month in Ireland by getting the community to tell their own stories.
  3. Do a demonstration of how to tie African Women’s Head Gear.

“Seminar: Why African History is World History”

The Unforgettable Women’s Network have arranged for a public seminar on why African history is world history. There will be 4 presenters from the Institute of Antiracism and Black Studies. www.iabs.ie give talks on the topic as an introduction to Black Studies.
