We’re delighted to reveal that ‘Boye & Colours Afrobeat Foundation will be performing on the Malaika Stage at this year’s Africa Day Dublin flagship event!
‘Boye & Colours Afrobeat Foundation are Ireland’s foremost multicultural band. Founded in 2005 by Nigerian-born ‘Boye Akerele, the group have built a strong following with their repertoire of socially conscious, original songs, rooted in the music of Africa.
Over the past decade, the group have shared stages with Grammy Award-winning American hip-hop trio Naughty by Nature, legendary Ghanaian guitarist and composer Ebo-Taylor, and have collaborated with the legendary Tony Allen, musical director of Fela Kuti’s band Africa 70 and co-founder of the genre Afrobeat.
In 2013, ‘Boye & Colours Afrobeat Foundation were backed by Femi Anikulapo Kuti’s The Positive Force as they performed to a crowd over 15,000 attendees at the Felabration in Lagos, Nigeria.
